ABOUT JEDIDIAH VILLAGE FOUNDATION
The Jedidiah Village Foundation is a community-driven nonprofit serving rural communities in Togo. We focus on solutions that are practical, transparent, measurable, and built with local leaders and designed to last.
OUR STORY
Jedidiah Village Foundation was born from a personal journey and a promise. Our founders, Kokouvi Ametode and Kemea Kouloun, grew up in a rural village in Togo, where poverty shaped daily life and limited access to education and healthcare. Many schools lacked desks and learning materials, teachers were often unpaid, and children were sent home because families could not afford school fees. Healthcare was equally fragile, with limited access to basic medicine and treatment.
Years later, after immigrating to the United States and building a life through education and public service, Kokouvi returned to Siyimé with his wife Kemea. What they found was deeply painful: many of the same barriers still defined the village. Children were still kept out of
school because parents could not pay fees. Teachers still struggled to stay in classrooms. Families still faced difficult choices between illness and poverty.
In that moment, Kokouvi and his wife decided they could not simply witness the problem, they had to become part of the solution. Together, they founded the Jedidiah Village Foundation to restore hope through education and strengthen wellbeing through community support.
